Are you studying to be a work planner and looking for an internship where you can learn more about calculation? Then read on quickly!
As a trainee calculator, you will be involved in all subsequent steps even before the working drawing has been made. Together with an experienced calculator, you calculate which materials are needed for a piece of furniture, what the transport costs will be and how many people will be working on it. Once you have sorted everything out, you determine what the furniture will cost and make sure the customer receives the quotation. During your internship, you will also have a lot of contact with the work planners and with suppliers and clients.

After grabbing a cup of coffee, your working day starts at 7.30 am. Together with your colleague calculator, you discuss today's planning. At 9.00 you have a meeting with the team leader about a quotation request. A quotation has to be made for a shop at Schiphol Airport. The architect's drawing is ready and the material requirements are told. After everything is clear, you write down all the steps needed for the furniture. Among other things, you find out how many hours are needed to realise the project, which and how many materials are needed, which techniques are going to be used and look at the purchasing costs and delivery times.
Together with your colleagues you will join the catered lunch, here you will also get to know colleagues from other teams. After the break, you will continue with the steps and discuss them with your supervisor. If everything is correct, you can start making the offer and send it to the potential client. Then, together with the project manager, you look at an ongoing project for which you made the estimate earlier. The project is going well and will probably come in under the estimate, which you did well!
At the end of the day, you review the work you still need to do for school and check with your supervisor to see if you are on track with the internship period.
