Junior calculator

Junior calculator

As a junior calculator, you are already building the furniture we make in your head. After all, to be able to make an offer to the customer, you need to know what a piece of furniture will cost, what materials we will use and what production technique will be used to make it. So you like to immerse yourself in an assignment and enjoy finding out and sorting things out. You are enthusiastic about beautiful interiors and like to learn how to realise such a design technically. Under the guidance of experienced colleagues, you will learn the tricks of the trade. You have internal contact with the work preparation department and externally you offer support in contact with suppliers and clients. Within this position, there is plenty of room and time to learn the trade internally!

Would you like to learn this beautiful profession with us? Then read more about this vacancy for junior calculator at INTOS in Haarlem.

What will you do?

Spend a day with a junior calculator? You can!

You arrive at our recently renovated premises, have a cup of coffee and say hello to your colleagues in the office and workshop. You check your mailbox and then at 8:00 you have a meeting with your project team leader. You discuss with him the new quotation request for the head office of a large research institute. Together, you look at the architect's drawing and discuss the wishes regarding the use of materials and production techniques for the various pieces of furniture. With this information in the back of your mind, you then get to work. You calculate what and how much material is needed and request quotations from suppliers to see what the purchasing costs and delivery times are. You also make a sharp estimate of the internal hours needed to realise this project from start to finish.

During the break, you will join our catered lunch at the 'Groote Markt' and chat with your colleagues. After the lunch break, you start with two smaller quotation requests. The first concerns a calculation you delivered for adapting furniture in an existing shop. You discuss and implement the adjustments internally so that you can then forward the quotation to the potential client. The second request concerns a recalculation of a quotation issued six months ago by INTOS for a playroom in a hospital. The procurement costs may have changed in the meantime. You check this with the supplier and then recalculate the material costs. You then schedule an appointment to go through this quotation first thing tomorrow morning with an experienced calculator to make sure you haven't forgotten anything.
